When It Comes To Feeding Your Baby, Experience Matters
Belinda Phillips RN, BSN, IBCLC founder Home Lactation Care
My lactation story: We all have our own personal breastfeeding story. I have 2 children that I struggled to breastfeed in the late 80’s. My nurses had no education to help me in the hospital. I told them I wanted to breastfeed and I remember one nurse handed me my daughter and said “Good luck with that”. I did make it to 4 weeks but gave up when my pediatrician told me my daughter was allergic to my milk. I was so disappointed.
While working in a WIC office several years later, I was educated on breastfeeding. I finally realized that if I had the help of a Lactation Consultant, I would have been able to meet my breastfeeding goals. This was my light bulb moment. I became a Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2016 and recertified in 2021. I continually seek education in the field of lactation to better assist families in my community. I enjoy helping mothers to succeed in meeting their breastfeeding goals.
I am married to my wonderful husband Dan Phillips and we have 2 adult children. We love the outdoors and spend as much time enjoying biking, kayaking, boating, and camping as possible. Spending time with family and friends is important to us along with the laughter it brings.
